This is pretty much how I sum up Snape apologists.
Okay, no. It was deeper than that. Snape was jealous of James because he had the adoring friends and fans, he was a star student, star Quidditch player. The thing he hated him the most for was the fact that he got Lily to fall in love with him, and he had always been there for Lily. He loved her even after they stopped being friends. His Patronus was a female stag—Lily. He stopped being a Death Eater and began to help Dumbledore and Harry defeat Dumbledore because he was Lily’s son. The cruelty he showed to Harry was immature, but it was because of a powerful love, and he could never see past that. But what all of you stupid ass haters refuse to see if that Snape made the ultimate sacrifice for Harry and Lily; he knew he would be found out in the end. He could have dropped his spy act at any time, but he didn’t. Snape might have been an asshole but he is my and you need to look up your facts before judging. Thank you.
Let’s talk about this gif…
So do not ever bad mouth Severus Snape in front of me again.
Let’s talk about some shit, shall we?
"The thing he hated him the most for was the fact that he got Lily to fall in love with him, and he had always been there for Lily." You speak as if Lily owed Snape a relationship because he happened to be her friend. That it was some sort of massive betrayal that she fell in love with and married James Potter, even though Snape “had always been there for [her]”. Sorry, but no, what a completely lame implication. You’re not romantically obligated to anyone, for any reason, ever. Also, calling your friend a horrible slur is not being there for them at all. Whoops.
"He stopped being a Death Eater and began to help Dumbledore and Harry defeat Dumbledore because he was Lily’s son." So because Snape felt some sort of survivor’s guilt after Lily’s death (which he was partially responsible for, btw, since he’s the one that told Voldemort about the prophecy in the first place), I’m supposed to pity him and think him the ultimate hero? If that prophecy had turned out to be about anyone else, if it had threatened someone else’s life besides Lily’s, do you think he still would have essentially defected and played a role in helping Dumbledore? No, he wouldn’t have. He would have continued working directly and only for Voldemort because Snape was a Death Eater by choice and no amount of trying to dress up that fact will change it.
"The cruelty he showed to Harry was immature, but it was because of a powerful love, and he could never see past that." Spoiler alert: you’re one of the people the original comic applies to. Congratulations on excusing a grown man’s mental abuse of children just because happened to obsessively love someone who did not love him back.
"Snape might have been an asshole but he is my and you need to look up your facts before judging. Thank you. ” I’m actually quite content and secure in my vast knowledge of the Harry Potter series so there’s really no need to thank me.
“ Let’s talk about this gif” Oh Jesus, yes, let’s do. Let’s talk about how this NEVER happened in the books so it does nothing to make your point look favourable, but it does for mine because this scene is actually quite creepy. Lily distanced herself from Snape after he (so lovingly) called her a mudblood, and rightfully so. Him cuddling her dead body isn’t romantic or heartbreaking. It goes directly against that distance Lily wanted between herself and him and basically just proves Snape didn’t give a shit about her agency at all, not even in death. Wow, what a great guy!
"So do not ever bad mouth Severus Snape in front of me again." Severus Snape was a self-serving, bigoted piece of shit who agreed with Voldemort until it no longer benefited him and then went on to bully children in a classroom. The end.
It’s also funny cause JKR herself has “badmouthed him” calling Snape a “horrible person” and so on (look here)
So like, if the AUTHOR can admit that a character of hers is a shitty person, you can too.
